家住东北顺城的傅吉祥（范伟 饰）是当地一名足疗按摩师，他为人诚实乐观，被一众好友称为傅老大。谁也想不到，这样一个总是面带笑容的人却有着艰苦辛酸的童年。父母在他童年时便相继离世，傅老大独自拉扯三个弟弟一个妹妹，靠一己之力将他们全部送入北京，过上幸福的生活。而他则遭遇了婚姻失败、无生育能力、下岗都一系列的人生挫折。 某天，晨练中的傅老大邂逅了自闭的小男孩乐乐（吴诗雨 饰），继而救了乐乐走投无路、企图自杀的妈妈梅好（孙宁 饰）。这三个平凡的个体走到一起，组成一个临时家庭。不久，傅老大的弟妹回老家给父母上坟，弟妹们不愿哥哥继续这样“失败”的生活，他们力劝哥哥来京。耐不住弟妹们的怂恿，傅老大前往北京暂住，却发现生活优渥的弟弟妹妹又有着各自的烦恼……。This is the second film about the detective Feluda (Soumitra Chatterjee) set in the holy city of Benares, where he (along with his cousin, Topshe and friend, Lalmohan Ganguly) goes for a holiday.
