故事的主人公是著名作家兼电视节目主持人桑迪（斯蒂芬·格拉汉姆 Stephen Graham 饰），他生活环境优渥，个性幽默风趣，深受周围人的喜爱。然而，即使是如此杰出的人，他也有一些不可告人的缺点和怪癖。其中之一就是偷窃，他无法克制自己，从珠宝首饰到洗发香波，凡是可以偷的，他都会偷。这种怪癖最终导致他在一家超市被保安罗伯特（康雷斯·希尔 Conleth Hill 饰）抓住。 在被抓时，桑迪请求罗伯特不要将他交给警察，罗伯特答应了，但他提出了一个条件——他们必须成为朋友。这个条件让桑迪感到震惊，但他别无选择，于是他们开始交往并建立了朋友关系。。Two young people with a young child, living in the seventies, are full of ideas and dreams.
